What is it?
The Big Carrot is a natural food market that has been committed to local, organic, non-GMO and sustainable food systems since 1983. They are a one-stop shop offering produce, grocery, bulk, body care and a wholistic dispensary. Building community is at the core of their vision which they deliver through education, outreach and giving.
Why do we like it?
With two locations, this Toronto grocery store has everything you need for your “Kind Food Kitchen”. The Danforth location has a beautiful rooftop space where you can sit and enjoy your food and drink (socially distanced) and escape some of the city noise. We love their organic juice bar and appreciate their selection of fresh produce (working directly with local, organic farmers) and their support for local food makers and brands. It’s worth the drive if you aren’t in the neighbourhood.
Fun fact: we did our first Future Proofing Workshops in their studio space atop the store, and the Big Carrot was one of our original sponsors!
What do we suggest you try?
The Hot Lemon Zapper (with an extra shot of ginger if you can handle it!)
